Triple Cheese Sourdough Grilled (Printable)

Golden crispy sourdough with three melting cheeses for ultimate comfort.

# What You'll Need:

→ Bread & Cheese

01 - 4 slices thick sourdough bread
02 - 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese
03 - 2 slices provolone cheese
04 - 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

→ Spreads & Fats

05 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
06 - 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional, for extra crispiness)

# How-To Steps:

01 - Lay out the sourdough slices. Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice. If using, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the other side for extra crispiness.
02 - Place two slices, buttered side down, on a clean surface. Layer each with 1 slice cheddar, 1 slice provolone, and half the shredded mozzarella.
03 - Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
04 - Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Place the sandwiches in the pan.
05 - Cook for 3–5 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted. Flip carefully to avoid spillage.
06 - Transfer to a cutting board, let rest for 1 minute, then cut and serve hot.

# Top Tips:

01 -
  • The three cheese blend creates this incredible depth of flavor sharp cheddar hits first provolone brings the funk and mozzarella pulls it all together into something magnificent
  • That sourdough exterior gets impossibly crispy while staying tender inside exactly the texture contrast grilled cheese dreams are made of
02 -
  • Medium low heat is non negotiable high heat will burn your bread before the cheese has time to melt into gooey perfection
  • Letting the sandwiches rest for one minute after cooking is the difference between a sandwich that stays together and one that falls apart the second you cut it
03 -
  • Butter your bread to the edges every single time or youll get those sad unbrowned corners that haunt my grilled cheese memories
  • Use a cast iron skillet if you have one the heat retention creates superior browning that nonstick just cannot achieve
